DETROIT (AP) — Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 3.4 million vehicles and telling owners to park them outside due to the risk of engine compartment fires. The recalls cover multiple models from the 2010 through 2015 model years including Hyundai’s Santa Fe SUV and Kia’s Sorrento SUV. Documents posted Wednesday by U.S. safety regulators say the anti-lock brake control module can leak fluid and cause an electrical short, which can touch off a fire while the vehicles are parked or being driven. The automakers are advising owners to park outdoors and away from structures until repairs are done. Dealers will replace the anti-lock brake fuse at no cost to owners, but owners won’t be notified by mail until November. Vancouver developer Howard Meakin has owned thefamed Expo 86-era floating McDonald’s restaurant vessel known as the McBarge for decades, and despite its outward appearance, by no means is it derelict, he says. The vessel was made famous during the 1986 World Exposition in Vancouver as a floating McDonald’s restaurant, though the vessel official name was the “Friendship 500.” Meakin said he was surprised to learn in recent media reports that the vessel appeared on the federal government’s national inventory of wrecked, abandoned or hazardous vessels. It has since been removed from the Canadian Coast Guard’s list. “It’s just ridiculous because it’s never been abandoned,” Meakin said in an interview. “The hull is in pristine condition. We’ve had it surveyed and it’s concrete, the hull is concrete. It has a life expectancy of probably well over 100 years.” Up until 2019, it wasn’t even illegal in Ca...13-year-old Chinese skateboarder wins gold at the Asian Games and now eyes the Paris Olympics

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and his wife are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Manhattan on federal charges alleging they agreed to and accepted “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in bribes to enrich three New Jersey businessmen and benefit the Egyptian government. A three-count indictment unsealed Friday in the Southern District of New York alleges Menendez used his influence as a senator and chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee to benefit the businessmen, Wael “Will” Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daibe. In return, he and his wife, Nadine, received cash, gold bars, a luxury vehicle and more. Despite Menendez originating from New Jersey, the indictment comes out of the SDNY due to some of the transactions occurring in Manhattan, including the sale of gold bars and meetings in restaurants, according to the indictment.Menendez and his wife are expected to formally hear the charges against them and enter their pleas Wednesday morning, according to...WATCH: Mother bravely shields son as bear leaps on picnic table to devour his birthday enchiladas

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A Mexican mother bravely shielded her son after a bear leapt on a picnic table and devoured the tacos and enchiladas meant for the boy’s birthday dinner, inches from his face.Silvia Macías of Mexico City had traveled to the Chipinque Park on the outskirts of the northern city of Monterrey to celebrate the 15th birthday of her son, Santiago, who has Down syndrome.Soon after they sat down to eat the food they had brought, the bear showed up and gulped down french fries, enchiladas, tacos and salsa. A video shot by her friend, Angela Chapa, shows Macías sitting stoically, inches from the bear's mouth, holding Santiago and shielding his eyes with her hand. She kept her eyes downcast, to avoid anything the bear might consider a challenge.“The worst thing was that Santiago might get scared," Macías recalled Tuesday in an interview with The Associated Press. “Santiago is very afraid of animals, a cat or a dog, any animal scares him a lot.”“That's why I covered ...The month will end with plenty of heat

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Lisa, and it's about soap. Here's her email: Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime. I got into a riff with my two sisters recently when we went away for the weekend. We all stayed in the same room (it was big with two queen beds in it). The hotel only put one bar of soap in the shower, so I told them that I would call the front desk and ask for two more bars. They both looked at me like I was nuts. They said we were only going to be there for two nights, why do we need more soap? I told them that I didn't want to use the same bar of soap that they would use and I figured we each would want our own bar of soap. Both of them were fine using the same bar. I was not. I asked for a new one. They both thought it was strange and it even offended them a little. They said it's soap...it's inherently clean, and that you could wash it off between showers. I still said n...Latest news
