A prominent Minnesota attorney was arrested Friday after allegedly striking a construction worker on Interstate 35 and fleeing the scene.James Patrick Carey, 64, reportedly failed to stop after hitting the worker on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes near Hinckley at approximately 11:41 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.James Carey, president and managing partner of the SiebenCarey law firm in Edina, was arrested was Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, after allegedly striking a construction worker on Interstate 35 in Pine County and fleeing the scene. The mother of a 12-year-old St. Paul girl whose friends were shot, one fatally, this week is pleading for anyone who knows where her daughter is to get in touch so the girl can come home.Police say the girl was last seen when officers dropped her off at her house the night of the shooting.It is believed that the girl then left her home and went into hiding.“She says she doesn’t feel safe,” her mother, Shaquantae Bates, said Saturday during a news conference held at the site of the shooting.On Wednesday about 7:45 p.m., multiple 911 callers and an officer on patrol reported hearing gunshots, which led officers outside an apartment building on Hazelwood Street near East Maryland Avenue.Officers found 14-year-old Monica Joy Holley, two other girls, 13 and 15 years old, and a 19-year-old woman had been shot outside the apartment building. Here's a list of scams circulating California and how to avoid them:$20 Bill ScamThe $20 bill scam involves a stranger pretending to return a $20 bill that they say a potential victim dropped, according to the Yuba City Police Department. This usually happens after a scammer learns of the victim's debit card pin number by watching them at an ATM.Moments later the scammer will get the victim to open their wallet and ask for the money back. During the process, the victim gets distracted while the scammer(s) steal the debit card right from under the victim's nose without them knowing. UPDATE: As of Saturday morning, a total of two people died as a result of the shooting. Last night, Richmond police said one person died, and two were injured from the shooting.(KRON) -- Two people are dead and another was injured after a shooting in the City of Richmond Friday night, the Richmond Police Department confirmed to KRON4. Richmond police responded to the 900 block of 23rd Street at 7:45 p.m. for a ShotSpotter notification. Officers found all three victims at the scene, but one of them died at the scene before they were able to reach a hospital. Two of the other victims were taken to nearby hospitals, police said. However, one of them died at the hospital, making it a total of two fatalities in the shooting.
